Kia Seltos - Reasons to buy
Kia Seltos: This is not just an all-in-one new car, it is a new brand all together. Kia?s debut model has landed in the middle of the SUV segment which is right now really the core of the market. This is really an important car. This car will also establish the Kia brand ? the Kia credentials. So it better be good out of the box.
The first thing you notice is Kia?s signature Tiger nose grille. It is pinched in the middle and it is the styling element found on every Kia car. On the Seltos, the tiger nose is superbly highlighted with the storm stripe which has a very premium knurl finish. In fact the Seltos looks very upmarket with lots of rich detailing.
The headlights with their projector lamps, DRLs extending across the nose and vertical fog lights look a bit too busy, but at night you won?t miss this for anything else. The rear is a lot cleaner and the sculpted tailgate and scuff plates is a nice dose of SUV muscle.
It is really difficult to spot a bad bit in the interior. Everything we touch feel is a quality premium feel and look. The dash top, the texture of plastics, the leather finish, even the glossy black finishes are very high quality. Steering feel feels fantastic to hold. The buttons got a lovely tactile feel. The display instrument seems very subjective.
Seltos GTX Plus is fully loaded, which means it is fully loaded with all features than any car of its class. We have got cool seats with Bose sound system, wireless charging and of course the must have sunroof and lots more. Seltos has got some many first class features. You can know the quality of air you are breathing inside the cabin. It has got connectivity and even voice recognition. The car is very stiff, one can feel the European in it. Having an excellent responsive, the steering could do even better. What one can really like is the ride and the handling balances it has got. The ride is not too firm, not too soft, suspension is really well judged. This is the top marks for Kia. This will the best and handling Korean SUV one has driven yet in this range.
But it is not exceptionally agile and likes to be eased into corners rather than hustles through them, and it feels best driven on notch top. All the engines in Seltos comes with 6-speed manual as well as automatic. In automation, there are different variants. So totally there are around 16 variants in this model. The engine doesn?t feel under powered at all. In fact the engine blooms away with the refinement with the so quiet, so smooth and the power delivery is also very linear very tractable. There is a very little bit of turbo lag, but that is very marginal. One the engine starts pulling, it will pull and rev all the way to 5000 rpm, which is really good for a diesel.
The 1.5 Diesel will be the stable engine of the group, covering only Kia but also Hundai models in the group. The engine already meets BS6 standards, which in the future proves it when the tougher emission norms kick in. The claimed fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl is a practical choice.
There is far more space than one expects in the back seat. It is in the Creta category. The leg room and head rooms are great. The seats are comfy, a little short on thighs. There is large space pockets and mobile space along with USB port. The pretty cool is AQI readout. So you get to know the quality of air inside the cabin. You have got the sun blind, and even the rear seat reclines a bit. So what?s more to expect? Kia seems to have everything.
The GT version gets the heads-up display, which you can customise what to see in the display. The 1.4L petrol is lusty, quite smooth. This is a very entertaining car to drive. The paddle shifts which would enhance the fun is missing in this car. There are two sets of modes in this variant. One is control of engine response and other, the level of traction for different surfaces. This gives you even the greater control of the car.
Also the new cars these days are coming with the connected tech, which is next big trend and the Seltos is filled with all the features in it. UVO app is the one like your big brother through which you can monitor and control your car. The car is so well rounded and so versatile. Though there is no 4-wheel drive option, it offers everything other than that. The Seltos is the one SUV to buy if you can buy just one SUV. Kia?s product is an absolute winner.
